7 WordPress Plugins You Probably Aren’t Using, But Should!
One of the benefits WordPress has over it’s competitors, is the massive plugin support available. I’m going to share with you a few plugins I’ve discovered, and have been running on this blog for some time now, but you might not have even heard of some of them.
1. WP Ajax Edit Comments - A plugin that I’ve briefly discussed, and it is one you need. I challenge any reader to tell me they don’t like the ability to edit comments. It’s a must!
2. Full Text Feed - Again, I’ve already discussed why this is a necessity. It concerns all who use the ‘read more’ tag. If you’re offering RSS feeds, why not give people what they’re subscribing for?
3. SRG Clean Archives - This is a must. It displays your archive listings in a clean, and uniform fashion on a dedicated page, that’s search engine friendly. See it in action.
4. Feed With Comments - A good number of you may have noticed this nifty feature just recently. If you haven’t it means you still haven’t subscribed to the RSS Feed. What it does, is add the comments to the bottom of your articles in the feedreader. Cool eh? I figured it might increase the number of comments. People reading other peoples comments, may find they have something to add. That way you get your subscribers to click through, and contribute to your articles (in theory).
5. Similar Posts - Many of you may have come across another related posts plugin. But quite frankly, I find this lesser known one better. It’s easier to install, and works a treat, giving accurate results with various options to stop certain posts and categories from displaying.
6. WordPress Duplicate Content Cure - We’ve been reading a lot recently about duplicate content having a negative effect upon search engine rankings. The way to avoid it is to add a line to your robots.txt file. However, some people don’t like messing with such things, so here is a plugin to the job for you.
7. DoFollow - This isn’t rare, but maybe you haven’t installed it yet. What are you waiting for? Get it now. Your visitors will appreciate it.

Ok, I have read a few of your posts on this topic and I have to say a sarcastic thanks. You have successfully infected me with WordPress envy. Great.
Oh well, better start looking into making the change.
The feed with comments is an interesting one, although if you have a lot of comments it may get a little annoying for those who prefer to scroll through their feed reader. Do you think so?
As the the Archives one, I like the idea, a lot, but I’m unsure how search-engine friendly it is, because I’ve read that Google doesn’t take kindly to pages with over something like 100 links. Perhaps that’s just for external links though. You’ll probably know better.
For me, I’d have a lot more articles listed if all the archive months were shown.
I always like reading what plugins others are using so thanks for this one.
Oh, and you’re missing perhaps the most important one I use - subscribe to comments.

David - Hmmm…interesting perspective on the feedreader comments, I can’t give an honest answer either. Maybe it does have a negative effect. I’d actually like to hear a few thoughts from others on it.
The archives plugin is SEO friendly mainly in that it works as an effective sitemap, but whether that makes any difference when you have an .xml file, I don’t know. Google doesn’t like lots of outbound (or external) links on one page, but internal links can actually have a positive effect.
I actually have the subscribe to comments plugin installed, but it doesn’t seem to be working on this theme. I’ll look into it.
Armen, do you have any stats available after you installed the Feed With Comments plugin? Have you noticed an increase in comments?
