10 Posts WordPress Beginners Ought To Read

Thousands of posts are published each and every day, most of which we’ll never read, and many a waste of time. However, every now and then, a post is published which everyone should read (at least within a certain community). Here are 10 WordPress related posts, both old and new, that everyone who has a WordPress blog should read.

Bare in mind, many of you may have already come across these, but there are many new users who may be ignorant of them.

Initially in this spot, I had “83 Beautiful WordPress Themes You (Probably) Haven’t Seen“, but because nearly everyone knows about it, and there have been many other themes since it was published, I chose this post, as I reckon it’s better.

2. Top 30 WordPress Plugins In Blogosphere

A fairly accurate list by any judgment, and a good starting point for anyone wondering what plugins they should be using.

3. 10 Things You Must Do When Changing WordPress Themes

If I’ve done it once, I’ve done it a dozen times. I change the theme of a site, and forget to put in the code to track the stats. I like this post because it reminds me to do things I may otherwise forget.

4. WordPress - The Complete Post-Install Checklist

Once you’ve got WordPress installed, there are a settings and details that ought to be changed. Missing some of these can be easy, but now you’ve no excuse.

5. WordPress Theme Generator

Not really a post, but its simplicity, and overall ease of use makes this a gem. Having a unique theme is always beneficial, so this can be used as a good starting point for designing your own theme.

How a blog is launched is often critical. You might not take off from the start, but if you want to have a chance, most of the advice given here is vital.

This blog loves links - it loves them so much that the NoFollow attribute has been removed from all links that appear in comments. That means comments equal Google Juice!

    You have some great tips listed in there. I think you should add a little bit more about plugins and stuff. There are some amazing plugins out there and they are probably almost as important as your theme design.

    no idea why “webmasters” are not allowing comments or requires permission before a comment is approved. comments is the life blood of a blog, not allowing this is useless…
